Wilderness Coffee

I roast my own coffee at home and have made roasting and prepping coffee into a bit of a meditative and process-based hobby. With the desert as our cafe, I’ll create espresso drinks that rival those from your favorite fancy coffee shop.

You can include premium coffee service as an add-on when you book a hiking tour.

I also offer freshly roasted coffee every two weeks to desert residents. Please click the link below for more information on how to order the yummiest coffee around!

 FAQs

  • You should plan on bringing food and water for the tour. I also recommend that you look at a forecast for the weather for Joshua Tree. It's usually great weather for hiking but make sure you have the appropriate extra layers. While it's not required I recommend long pants to protect against the desert’s abrasive rocks and spiky plants. Finally, a small backpack to carry everything is good. (My pack will have extra room to help if needed).

  • I usually take people to an off-the-beaten-path area of the national park called the Wonderland of Rocks. It is in my opinion the most scenic area of the National Park. It is made up of many rocky formations that make for a landscape with many exploration options.

  • No! I offer tours for all levels and can adjust as we go to choose the path best suited for your group. Just make sure to come prepared with the items noted (food, water, layers) and we’ll be good to go!

  • Rates are determined based on the size of your party. You can view full breakdowns on each services’ page (ie. Hiking).

  • Yes! I roast my own coffee beans and consider myself one of the best backcountry baristas in the West. If you choose this add on, I’ll hike in with a full Espresso bar set up for you. I can make lattes, americanos, espresso — whatever you like!

Testimonials

“Ethan knows the layout of the park very well it’s obvious that he has spent his share of time there. If you’re relatively new to climbing and/or the park itself, I’d highly recommend using his services. He’ll cater everything to the experience level of your group, and you’re sure to get the most out of your time in the park.” — John V, Yelp!

“Ethan was a GREAT guide. He took us literally off the beaten path to where most visitors don't go. In fact, on the entire full-day hike I think we saw 4-5 other people total which really makes for a great hiking experience. To tell you how great a guide Ethan really is, we dropped a phone down a crevice and thought it was gone but Ethan being the spelunker that he is went down and got it! Who does that?” -Eric, (Trip Advisor)

We cannot express how fortunate we were to find and book Joshua Tree Adventures! If you want off the beaten path Ethan will deliver, but not to worry for city folk he took us right to the brink of our comfort-ability and gave us something to talk about for decades. He 100% knows what he is doing and there is no doubt when we bring people back to JT we will be booking him to guide us. He is 100% custom and the price was right! Loved every minute of our August sunset hike into the stargazing night.” -Kristin, (Trip Advisor)
